View Full Version : pick and place
Does anyone know of a site with information on designing PCB's for auto assembly.
Thanks,
Pat
Pat,
Looks like you didn't get an answer here, but I was really curious if you ever found an answer to question elsewhere?
I think that your question lies in the middle of one of the things that we are trying to accomplish with a Standard Library. If every designer used a standard library than the assembly pick & place equipment could be adjusted to match the standard data and therefore standardize the assembly process.
As long as PCB designers build their own library parts with different rotations, origins, naming conventions and pad sizes the assembly process will never be fully automated.

I could write a book on this one...Hmmmm..... We have two pcb assembly lines in our plant. There are a lot of variables depending on the equipment used. How the boards are panelized (a must). Are ther parts both sides? Do you want to reflow both sides or reflow and wave. If you have a vendor in mind he can help you. If you need any more general guidelines feel freem to email me.
