I'm still waiting for my cd, in the meantime I decided to start building some part, as I'mlearning the program I look in your SMN library to check how do you guys manage that and I checked some parts. My question is why in the Silkscreen layer there is no silkscreen? Is there other way to work in pads that the one I'm used to? Sorry guys for thaty question but as I told you before I'm learning the program here. I hope the cd come soon so i can check any other documentation about it.
ohh and my other question is should i define a padstack to start working?

thanks again

Sorry about the delay to get you the CD. We did a massive update of the librarys and more this weekend, and I wanted to get you the latest CD.

As far as silkscreen, there is info on building library parts in the documentation. But you use 2D lines on the TOP layer. Do not use the silkscreen layer for outlines. Everything you want to be silkscreened in your part decal should be done on TOP. That way, when you flip the part, PowerPCB also flips that stuff to the BOTTOM.

Use L26 (Silkscreen) for adding text, lines, and misc copper to your silkscreen top legend. I use this for logos, PCA names, misc thigns like Pin 1 text, etc. But I do that in the board database.

Oh no no, I didn't want to sound mean about the cd, sorry but I'm so impatient about that because I need to have some boards done, you guys take your time, is great how you guys are doing this stuff, and I wish I can help.
Thanks a lot for that answer Randy, I knew there was a reason for that silkscreen stuff. Now I know how to do it, but it made me crazy this afternoon trying to find the designator in the silkscreen...LOL
May I make another rquestion? hehehe
Why when I open the chip resistors I have two libraries: LEAST USE ENVIRONMENT AND LEAST MATERIAL CONDITION, one is saved as IPC and the other not, what should I use adn what are those diferent names?
And thanks again for your answers.

Laszlo

P.S.: I think I found the Documentation for building parts.

The IPC-SM-782 libraries are just preliminary. Dieter Berman sent me some new IPC-782 spread sheets that will be released by IPC in mid 2002. I just built the IPC-782 parts so he could run GenCAM experiments. Please use the SMN library for the time being until the IPC-782 documentation is released.
