Man, sometimes it seems like things are really going downhill.

A group takes 700 or so hostage in a Russian theater. Bombings in Bali take innocent people's lives including almost an entire rugby team. A sniper creates terror over an entire region in the USA. Terrorists in the Philipines.

I know some of it is that we are exposed to the media more. But terrorism is really on the rise or appears to be and where does it end or lead to? If groups see this as their only viable method of impacting or making changes.... will is just get worse.

Sometimes I have to step back and think about the fact that there is a lot that is good. In fact, the good way overshadows the bad. But we don't read about those good things or see them on the news much.

Personally, I think since 9-11 we in the US are simply more aware. Nightclub bombings have occasionally occured throughout Europe for decades. A few have even occured here on US soil. Remember the Atlanta bombing of a nightclub around the time of the Olympics.

Bombs and threats to the subway in Paris seemed to occur every time I visited.

When i visited Israel for a business trip, the hostilities were a few km away, but yet life seemed generally normal.

It is truely sad and depressing to see the world in such chaos mostly because of a few extremist groups who believe killing innocent people in the name of their religion is acceptable :(
