Hi all,

Has anyone tried to translate an Orcad Layout file to a Pads PowerPCB file? If so, did you have any luck? any problems?

All replies appreciated!

Jackie,

I don't think you're going to have any luck finding an OrCAD Layout to PowerPCB translator. Switching over to PowerPCB is going to be a little rough, but we'll help you out. You will have to keep all those legacy OrCAD designs on OrCAD and keep a copy of OrCAD installed to perform the revisions. Just don't do anymore designs in OrCAD and you'll save yourself future heartburn. After a year or so those legacy designs will be archived.

But, on a positive note, the next IPC Designer Learning Symposium is in Ottawa. See you there.

Hi Tom,

It's still very preliminary. Haven't got the software... yet...I was just wondering how much explosion debris I was going to have to clean up if we did switch over to Pads.

As for the Designer's Symposium being in Ottawa next year, that's great. I'm sure we'll be speaking before then.
