I just noticed that the router cut a pathe thru some copper
that I had pre laid. Is this normal for Blaze?
Paul,
It's normal for any autorouter. Autorouters do not recognize Copper Pour or Teardrops. If you want the autorouter to avoid routing in a specific area, add a route keepout on that layer.

No Tom Most AUTOROUTERS DO NOT CUT THRU COPPER.
The BLAZE does.
Paul,
I've used the CCT autorouter for the past 10+ years and it has always cut through regular copper pour. This is very well known in the industry. CCT recognizes Copper, but not Copper Pour.
Now there is a big difference between copper pour and Split/Mixed Planes, but you did not specify which one you were using. You just mentioned "Copper".

I have been studying Blazerouter for a couple of weeks and it is normal to ignore copper when routing. This is PADS explanation of obstacle taken directly from the help file.
obstacles
Objects that block routing. Obstacles can be protected pins, vias, traces, keepouts, board outlines, and hatch outlines.
Exception: Although hatch outlines are obstacles, when you interactively route, autoroute, or edit traces, hatch outlines ore removed from the design so routing can complete.
Visible copper pour hatch outlines, copper pour outlines, and plane area outlines are not obstacles to interactive routing, autorouting, or route editing.
