I am currently designing footprints. I would like to know if there is a standard rule for the size of the finished hole in relation to the pin size?
Some of these pins are square and I have considered the greatest diameter of the pin.

Is there a general rule of thumb?

The Land Pattern Calculator has several Through Hole Tabs for round, square and elongated pins (slots). It provides the hole size, pad size, plane clearance, thermal pattern and solder mask.
