Is there a way to associate copper with a pin (or net) in a decal?

When I add copper to a part decal, and then place the part, it is not considered to be part of any net, and thus causes spacing errors durring verification.

If there was a way to associate this copper embeded in the part decal after being places, that would be a decent work around, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do this.

PS: What I am trying to do is create a custom pad shape.

Yes. In the decal editor, shift click on the copper, or use the select shapes and select the copper. Right mouse button, select associate, and then select the pin to associate to.

Easy!

Now make sure, if you associate to a thru hole pin, that you understand the "feature" where it will suppress the soldermasks for the pad.
