Hi all,
I am currently using PADS v5.0.
There are several details that we have now used the autodim feature to create. I am having trouble saving them to the library.
I can no longer combine them. I do get "make reuse" command, but I would rather have these in a library as befor.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Joyce

Are these 2D-Line/Text Details? I know that PowerPCB treats Auto-Dimension data differently than regular 2D-Lines and text. I did not know we ever had the ability to save Auto-dimensional data to a library, but then again I never tried (I just assumed).

Were you able to do this in V4.0? Or is this something new that you are trying to do?

Joyce,

I'm using PowerPCB V5.0. I created several Auto-dimensional items and tried to select them using "Select Shape" & "Select Documentation". Didn't work. Then I tried using "Select Anything" and it worked. I was able to select the dimensions and the dimensional text and RMB (Right Mouse Button) and "Combine" was one of the available options. I Combined all the Auto-Dimensional lines and text.

Then I selected one of the lines in the combined shape and RMB "Select Parent". Then RMB "Save to Library" is one of the options. I saved it in my USR library, opened a different database and inserted the object in the new database. It works! What's even better is that it retained its Auto-dimensional properties so if you move one the extension lines the dimension text changes its value.

Here is a weird discovery. If you go to RMB Filter and select all the drafting items (including Dimensions) and try to select an Auto-dimension line by clicking on it, PowerPCB does not select the line you click on. But you can Click and Drag a window around just a small piece of any of the Auto-dimensional data and it will select the entire dimension, text, arrow heads, extension lines, everything.
