It's basically Hide & Seek using your computer and a GPS* unit.
(*some can be found without the GPS, using the clues, if you know the area)
People hide containers with all sorts of items in them ranging from McDonalds toys to scratch tickets to computer items.
Your job is to use lat & long co-ordinates from the web page to find a site, unscramble the clues they give you, and find the container.
You can take an item/leave an item or take/leave nothing.
It's a great way to spend time walking with your family/friends.
Most sites are close enough to roads that you can go out after work during the week.
They also let you discover places you didn't know existed right in your own back yards.
We've just completed our first one (1000 sites here in Mass) and are already hooked.
