Dear Valued Innoveda Customer,

As you may know, the acquisition of Innoveda, Inc. by Mentor Graphics Corp. is now complete. Mentor's System Design Division (SDD) is responsible for the assimilation and integration of the Innoveda products, people and technologies, and will be communicating further product integration and release plans in the months ahead. However, there are certain decisions regarding Innoveda products we would like to communicate immediately to the Innoveda customer base.

Let me outline the main reasons for this acquisition from Mentor's perspective. First, the combination of Innoveda's product lines and technologies with Mentor's in the systems design market, produces very little overlap. Second, Innoveda's DxDesignerTM, PowerPCB® and ePlanner®/XTKTM/HyperLynxTM/Quiet ExpertTM product suites are strong additions to Mentor's product lines and will play key roles in our longer-term product roadmap. Third, Innoveda's people are a welcome addition to Mentor's worldwide sales, engineering and marketing organizations.

All Innoveda customers should know that their investments in Innoveda products are protected. Specifically, here are the plans for Innoveda's main product lines:

DxDesigner

The Innoveda DxDesigner product line and packages will continue to be developed and supported by Mentor Graphics. DxDesigner is a widely adopted front-end tool, and Mentor will continue to support and further develop DxDesigner integration with competitive PCB layout solutions, namely Cadence and Zuken, as well as further internal integration with Mentor's PCB layout solutions.

ePlanner/XTK/Quiet Expert/HyperLynx

Mentor Graphics will continue the development and support of Innoveda's high-speed tools ePlanner, XTK, Quiet Expert, and HyperLynx. The currently scheduled Innoveda ePD 3.0 release, which includes updates and further integration of Innoveda's high-speed tools, will be released as planned. Further integration of these solutions with Mentor's ICXTM and Tau® technologies, as well as with our ExpeditionTM Series PCB design product, will continue to be developed and communicated, giving our customers a wide spectrum of integrated high-speed solutions, as well as individual point solutions for specific high-speed design problems. Similar to our continued support for DxDesigner integration with competitive layout tools, we will also continue to support the integration of these high-speed solutions in competitive design flows.

PADS PowerPCB/BlazeRouter/PowerLogicTM

Mentor Graphics will continue the development and support of Innoveda's PADS product line, which is a widely adopted PCB layout solution in the ready-to-use market. These products include PowerPCB, BlazeRouterTM, and the new FIRE interactive editor. The PowerPCB 5.0 release is being shipped and supported as planned. However, Mentor Graphics will not be offering the PowerPCB solution on Unix platforms, which had been previously communicated by Innoveda.

We will be working to finalize an official Mentor Graphics SDD product roadmap over the next 60 days. In the interim, however, we believe it is important to communicate our enthusiastic support for the Innoveda products outlined above, as they will be an integral part of our roadmap and division strategy in the coming years.

As a result of this acquisition, the Innoveda support team has joined the award-winning support team at Mentor Graphics. Learn more at http://www.mentor.com/supportnet/innoveda/welcome.html
