Whats the difference between the optimizer in the stratedgy menu and if you do a window select then right click- then select optimize? The window select and optimize sure does alot more.
You did not get a reply to your question. It's obvious that no one on this Forum uses the BlazeRouter or at least no one is familiar with it enough to answer your question. Did you ever find out what the difference between the optimizer in the stratedgy menu is?
I'm going to BlazeRouter camp soon (up in San Jose) and hope to become a BlazeRouting champion, but I'll let you know how that turns out.

Tom,
Although I don't consider myself an expert with Blazerouter, I am totally lost without it. Most of the designs we do here consist of maximum component count on minimal surface area and in the shortest amount of time. In fact, the board I'm re-designing now was just deemed unmanufacturable by our fabrication house due to the via proximity to one another. (I try to squeek them in as close as possible on high density boards).
Blazerouter takes time to get used to. I believe it was Randy that posted some tips recently, that if followed, will yield optimal results.
The optimizer is a wonderful feature. It removes many vias and shortens all of the overall trace lengths.
Actually, the only thing I miss about hand routing is the overall appearance. Blazerouter has a pattern feature, but I don't think it follows it yet. (Or it does it very poorly).

I am not sure about the answer to the original question. I use Blaze. I would think the Window, RMB method is the same, just another pass and on a selection set.

Just to let you know, I've asked one of the developers for some information, and will post it here.

Yes please let me know. My experiences are the the RMB optimizer does way more than the optimizer in the strategy menu.

The difference is that RMB Optimize (Optimize the selected items) is, as you expected, more powerful than even Optimize High in the strategy. In a future release we are planning to increase the power of Optimize High and make RMB Optimize (actually all the RMB Do_Something) strategies to be the same as Optimize Medium.
