3d Parts Source (pro/e)

We are thinking of getting the PRO/E link for POWERPCB. Our Mechanical Engineer is asking me if there is a place that has 3D model for electronic parts somewhere. I know AMP and Molex has 3d parts. Does anyone know of a repository of 3d electronic parts? Too bad PCBSTANDARS doesn't do it!

We have the PRO-E Link for PADS and it works OK. It only gives you the top or bottom profiles though. Our engineers would like to see an image with both sides in the same view.

I do not know of anyone with a 3D Model library for PRO-E. It would be nice to illustrate all the component leads and real contour of the package, but that's a luxury.

We use SolidWorks and there is a direct PADS ASCII export / to SolidWorks Import and it illustrates both sides in the same view.

Every part in the pcbstandards.com libraries has 3D data built into each decal and part-type. We produce acceptable 3D models on every design that uses the pcbstandards libraries.

It sure would be nice if the interface supported the hole positions of components too. It's not always easy or accurate lining up the outlines of the 2 parts between PowerPCB and ProE.

Not to mention that most connectors are dimensioned from a through hole.

With our Custom process we can convert any PowerPCB/Allegro
file to 3D solid. There is no need to have expensive interface
software, with a choice of multiple file format 3D data can be brought into AutoCAD, ProE, Solid Works.

Simplified Solutions has 3D models in Pro/E .prt format for common electrical packages. The hint.map tool allows the creation of your ecad_hint.map file linking the 3D Pro/E models to your IDF data.
