It seems I have a corrupt library part in my Orcad Library.

When I select the part I get an error "Unexpected error in database access. File not found." As soon as I select the OK button the program closes and will continue to shut down when I try to open the library until I delete the .opj file.

I've tried overwriting the library part but I get an error "A part with this name already exists. Do you wish to overwrite it?"
After selecting OK, I get another error message that says "Unable to save part. A package with this name already exists."

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to remove this part from the library?

Does the library contain custom parts? If not, erase the whole library file, and reinstall only that library. I think you can get it from the ftp site at orcad.

If the library is one you created and want to keep, try this:

Close your design and make a copy of it.

Click File->Open->->Library; select the corrupt library file

In the window that opens with the list of symbols, select the corrupt one and either click File-Save As to change its name, or delete it

Close the library, saying Yes to All, then reopen your design.

In the project view window, browse to and click "Design Cache",

Then click Design->Cleanup Cache to eliminate any problem parts,

Then click the "+" sign to the left of "Design Cache", and select all the parts that appear in the list,

Then click Design->Update Cache to replace all the parts in your design with copies from their respective libraries.
