Just got back from the Innoveda User Group Conference. Not much was mentioned about the Mentor acquisition yet, but one thing that was mentioned was PowerLogic has a user base of over 17,000. The question was raised about the future of this product and the answer was that Mentor will continue the support it and sell it, but will not improve it.

All the resources for full integration with PowerPCB are being spent on Viewdraw (ePD 3.0 & up). This is primarily due to introducing High Speed Rules with BlazeRouter. PowerLogic is not capable nor do they want to make it capable to transfer High Speed Rule definitions back and forth between PowerPCB.

Something was mentioned about an upward translation that will convert all your schematics and libraries into Viewdraw if and when you decide you need a better schematic program..... If you are on yearly maintenance you can decide to trade up. Otherwise, just use PowerLogic as it is forever. No more "wish list" for this program.

A full Mentor Graphics product road map will be available in 6 weeks.

Has anyone heard any more about the "product road map" that's supposed to be coming from Mentor? At this point we're not even sure if we should continue maintenance on PowerPCB let alone PowerLogic.

Isn't that the way it always is? You go to a convention (The PADS International User Group) and everyone is asking questions about the Mentor acquisition and the CMO of Innoveda response is: "We are working on a roadmap of the future of all Innoveda products. We cannot discuss them at this time because the acquisition is not complete. However, be rest assured that Mentor will post a product road map some time in the month of June after the acquisition is complete"

June's not quite over yet.
