To pass the time, I often listen to music while I work. I am finding that it's easier to just play MP3s on my system than to use a CD player, so I started collecting MP3s.
Napster was the way, but now I use Morpheus.
I also like using the online radio of http://www.echo.com/ check them out. Kinda cool to see what they are playing. You can customize what you want to listen to...kinda like Tivo, by rating songs, artists, and albums.
What is your favorite MP3 player? Do you just use what is on your computer or do you have one you really like? I lost my old player when I changed over computers at some point.

I've happily been using Sonique as a player and MusicMatch for ripping. I've also been converting a lot of my vinyl and cassette boots to MP3/CD using a shareware program called Goldwave.
So far, I've got about 50% of my CD collection stored as MP3s on about 15 discs that I keep here at work.
Lately though I've been checking out Live365.com which is Internet Radio where you can just listen to other's broadcasts or actually broadcast your own (I have not gone so far as to do this yet). Kinda nice because of the variety. I had some trouble getting it through the firewall and had to resort to mediaplayer which is prone to lag. Oh, well.

I just use WinAmp. It plays 'em and that's all I need. Of course at home I tune in to some of the broadcasts but the sound quality of must of them leave something to be desired.

I downloaded and am using Winamp. One bit of info. Real Audio later releases are evil! :) The realaudio install renamed a ton of my MP3s to MPGA extentions which are not recognized by Winamp. I had to use DOS RENAME *.MPGA *.MP3 to fix it.
I have taken Realaudio off my computer.

Yeah real player is
real hack your computer, messup your requesty, self delete uninstall file during install, and other such things. I see no reason to use it.

I had no problems installing RealPlayer 8. Are you guys installing a later version? Quicktime on the other hand TRASHED my system. I finally wound up formatting and re-installing.

Hey Randy,
for MP3's check out....http://www.audiogalaxy.com/
It's kind of like Napster but there are a lot of shared files and they haven't "yet" been shut down by the record companies.
I like Winamp

My understanding is that realplayer 7 and 8 are the evil devil spawn. They rename MP3 files to MPGA so that they are not recognized by Winamp. They use spyware and load it on your system so they get a few pennies for advertisers and you get pop up ads.
Probably not the best source of unbiased info..but check out the forums at http://www.winamp.com/
I am using Morpheus. But I mostly have some good friends with many gigs of music. :)

I was going to say the same thing.
Spyware is evil and slows everything.
About the "qwak" time. It works great ON A MAC. I swear they right it to maliciously crash windows systems. Oh, well can't win them all.
