(Crossposted to parts-is-parts)

I am new to pcbstandards and am trying to figure out the structure. I just got my CD and will be looking closely at it.

I have a number of Powerlogic parts and CAE decals that I would be happy to contribute, but need some guidelines on how to do that.

If those guidelines do not exist, I'll be happy to contribute to the formation of them. Which would be the best forum for that, this or the parts-is-parts forum?

Allen. excellent!

Tom and I (and others) have been discussing this exact thing. I use PowerLogic also and it's a pain to make new decals. I can imagine hundreds and hundreds of us users all making our own decals which is silly.

I think this Powerlogic forum is the best place to discuss this, specific to Logic and all. I look forward to your inputs.

Good, then lets start off with an example. Let's say I have a couple of parts to contribute right now. They do not yet have PCB decal assignments because I have not yet figured out the structure of the pcbstandards library.

Let's start with a 168-pin DIMM (a single part, not a connector-type), and a standard AC'97 codec based on a QFP-48. I have many more parts to follow...

First, how do I find the PCB decals in the PCBSTANDARDS libraries?

Second, once done, who should I send them to and in what format? For example, do I put both parts in one set of powerlogic libraries, or should I create a set of libraries for each part?

This might be a good start, and we can learn by doing.

I'm still too new to be of great assistance, but one thing to watch for, is confusion relating to pin number and sequence. I don't know how to word it, but perhaps I can demponstrate it.

Example: NPN in a SOT-23 package.
CAE DECAL = NPN-BEC-V seq#1=base, seq#2=emitter, seq#3=collector
PCB DECAL = SOT-23 pin 1=base pin 2=emitter, etc..

The Sequence of Base, Emitter, Collector is key for proper packaging, NOT the pin number.
When assigning gate pin numbers (Part Information-Gates Tab) they should be added by order of pin function (name) not pin number.

I screwed up several library parts before understanding this.
