HI ALL

Here is my problem that i have put up with for a long time.

when a change is made in the schematic and a part is deleted and a new part added it uses the old ref des number now when i synch the Pcb it replaces the old decal with the new in the position if it is the same resistor it can be a nightmare to find.

Is the a way to make the part us the hight ref des and not fill in the gaps.

Hope this makes sense.

I know you can tranfer parts you are deleting to a new page and add then add the new ones but thats to much of a pain getting the engineers to do it.

to avoid this always add new parts, then delete old parts last, that way ref des will not be recycled

If you don't want to see the same reference designators used in the project, don't remove a part. Just add the new part and connect it. Then change the old one to a non-electrical part (you can control what you want to keep visible) with no pins. Then the ECO's don't care about it.
