I am working on a project to translate from ProE to PADS.
I still have many things to do still, but am close to be having something working properly.
Thanks to Tom Frayda, Bob Dinicola, Steve Terruso, and all the ones that answered to my questions.
I will make available my full process when finished...
Thanks !!

Awesome Christian.
What data will it work from? Any chance for a Solidworks module?

Mechanical defines at first the board outline, the keepouts for height restriction and route keepouts for whatever needed reasons, the mounting holes size, plated or unplated and their emplacements, plus some parts (connectors).
We extract from ProE the famous IDF3 format that gives an .EMN file.
Then we load it in PADS and everything is there and the mounting holes are glued. Board outline and keepouts will be updated automatically as soon as you enter a new .EMN file.
The data in the .EMN file is ascii so easy to read.
We still have few details to fix, but close to that result.
I dont know about solidwork... I actually never heard about it.
sorry. Is it another competitor of ProE ?
Did it answer your question well?

CptnChris,
We just recieved our ProE link, and as soon as youi have your method down, I too would be interested in how this actually works. After working with it for a whole 30 minutes, U still can't get the dxf or the emn to import properly.
Good luck,
DC
