PCB price rise hurting motherboard maker profits; motherboard makers post April results
[PCB Partner (http://www.pcbpartner.com)]The recent rising quotes for PCBs due to high cooper prices are expected to hurt motherboard makers' profits for the second quarter, according to sources from motherboard players.
PCB quotes rose 10-15% in the February-March period, but component makes recently raised their quotes again by another 20% putting pressure on motherboard makers' gross margins, the sources noted.
Due to Asustek Computer currently still not yet having a plan to adjust its pricing to reflex the increasing costs, other motherboard makers are concerned their market share in motherboard shipments may drop if they increase their prices to maintain profits, the sources added.
