CAM software

I wanted to know which would be the most convenient CAM software to use in order to modify Allegro gerbers for panellisation .

Convenient? or capable? - the later being Valor, the former would be CAM350, or Gebtool, which is looking pretty good these days after being a also ran in the past, seems better especially at IPC-D-356(A) netlist comparisons.

I am looking for a free software package that allows me to design in 2D, 3D as well as solid CAM software to work with my (soon to be arriving) CNC router. My computer is currently set up to dual boot XP or Ubuntu, as well as an extra copy of Windows 7 sitting around here some where.

I have tried searches and browsing a few forums, but nothing really gives a nod to one program or another.

I have experience with both SolidWorks and AutoCAD, so a similar interface would be convenient although certainly not required.
