Does anyone know of a successful method to merge two .max files in version 9.2, I have typically used "autoeco dxf " in version 9.1 but this is now missing in 9.2 Help?

I am sure this is not the best answer (duh) but you could open the files in Ver 9.1.

Ya, your right, But I want to know the system way ,I've converted my system to the New version "9.2" it use's a network card lock which always request a new registration # when installing, basically I updated when I got my new computer, My co-hart in PCB Crime still has version 9.1 so I'm not dead in the water. thanks for the thought.

Try and use the load function. Open your first board then select load. Select merge board. It will give you option as far as merging parts or updating them.

Give it a try and good luck.

I sent your question to the OrCAD Community Web site at

www.orcadpcb.com

and got this response:

If the MAX file merge process is failing, it is probably because the vias in your padstack spreadsheet (the first 16 padstacks) have different names. If you adjust the two MAX files to have the same names for the first 16 padstacks (the ones used by vias), the merge will most likely work.

If you want to use the old AutoECO merge,

1) open a DOS box
2) CD over to the directory where Layout.exe lives
3) execute MAXECO.exe with a "-x" switch (no quotes on the command line. I added the quotes to make sure you knew to keep the hyphen as part of the switch. This will run the old DXF merge inside AutoECO just like it used to. They left a back door in the MAXECO program just to handle bugs not yet fixed in the new MERGE program.
