Well I dont have time to read every ISO or IPC standard but sometime the customers/engineers think we do.

We are getting mixed messages of what FAB notes to put on a design, one is claiming IPC-RB-276 and another is calling for IPC-A-600E.

Is there any good resource to get a good overview on different IPC Standards without shelling out $$$$ for each PDF...?

I would recommend looking through the IPC document revision table. That tells you what supercedes what.

Also, if your interested in lead free, Engelmaier Associates has a good whitepaper titled

"WHITE PAPER REPORT: Recommendations for PCB FAB Notes and Specifications in Printed Circuit Board Drawings for SnPb and Lead-Free Soldering Assemblies, the Qualification of PCB Shops and Activities to Assure Continued Quality."

I don't know exactly how much it costs, but it shouldn't be too bad.

That is just the kind of reference we were looking for. Some customers through around "IPC this and that" and sometimes i honestly dont think they know what they are taking about. This quick reference gives me a good overview with out buying out the IPC library :)

Thanks!
