Cracking of ceramic capacitors has been a problem throughout the industry.
About 2 years ago we began reducing the size of our lands for chip
capacitors. A 33% reduction was applied to caps from CC2225 down to CC0805.
Example: For a CC1206 we had two .040"x.060"(XxY) lands on .120" centers. We
reduced these lands to .040"x.040" and came up with findings similar to
those in a report I received this morning.
