Hi

I am a masters student designing a high speed data capture card with PCI-Express interface.

Does anyone have a PCI Express board outline and associated edge card connector that I can beg or buy for PADS Layout or know anyone who I can contact in such regard?

Thanks

I am confused, why does everyone want these?

I'm really confused, the mechanical details of the card are readily available, why is it so difficult for people to build their own? Same deal with libraries pre-made parts certainly are convenient until you scrap boards because of a bad or poorly choosen footprint.

Ok glad you're with me Skip, if you want it done right design it yourself! ;)

I don't think it is hard, but it is easier to use premade parts and board outlines as templates to start.

Randy,

You are absolutely correct - but I can cite one instance that happened with a library that was supposed to be pristine - the edge fingers for the Mini-PCI connector were not off-set per the specification - granted an easy mistake to make seeing that reading thru the spec you find an outline of the edge fingers - fully detailed and dimensioned- with no mention of any other reqm'ts - but 2 or 3 pages later you find a detail of the locating notch with different dimensions to the rear finger and it becomes clear - luckily not a mistake I made, but one that I fixed here - scrapped about 20 boards. The point I'm making is the time spent checking pre-made parts is about the same as making your own - either way if it's wrong it's your fault.
