Dick,
Throw away the instructions - if you are running a single nodelocked copy you do not need to install any license management software - just install without the license, (if you have that option), after you install just make sure that the Environment Variable CDS_LIC_FILE is pointing to where your license is.

I work for a company that is very carefull about legal software.
Would only install the software the approved way. A new employee will be bitchin tomorrow. Cadence won't let employer return 2 new unopened and just received packages. Flexlim & Cadence suck! Just alot less than Altium.

Skip's install note is a completely legit way of setting cadence up.
Its even a more nightmare when youre trying to run Cadence, Expedition, Boardstation, Orcad, and Gerbtool all on one machine which all use Flexlm....

Gizzmo,
You have no idea how many people refuse to accept the fact that on a nodelocked license you don't need license management software - even after I walk them through it, I'll talk to them in a couple of months and they've uninstalled called support and spent much time just to have the management software on the machine. ("I've got a license, I must need that") GEESH!

I just wish there was a faster way to batch in and out environment variables, because some tools like there own License file to be the only one, so normally i am editing LM_LICENSE etc to just hold the license file i am currently using so it doesnt search through each and every file i have listed......

Ahh! FlexLM noobie!;)
Just append all your licenses into 1 big license.dat - simply cut and paste - keep backups, but it works! Makes startup a little slower but that's all. OR alternately the Env.Variable can contain multiple paths just separate them with a semi-colon.

Mentor will let you do that BUT sometimes Expedition takes YEARS to start (Boardstation fires right up), and Cadence and a few other tools wont let you do that :-/

Some of that problem may be solved, see my post in the BS section.
