Hi all experts,

I have finished everything on my PCB and now comes to the final step, to merge the AGND and GND. Since I don't have a FB to combine them in my design so I simply have to combine them.

Howeverm I used to do it by renaming AGND to GND in PowerPCB and then add a thick trace to connect them some where convenience.

I really wonder if there is any smarter approach so that I can keep the net name and do the job right?

Thanks so much!

You can always use a 0 ohm resistor to connect the 2 - also gives you the option to keep them separate if you need to.

I like the ZERO OHM resistor idea. Or any part that is a jumper.

I do not like merging the nets. In future design modifications, it can turn into a mess.

You can short out the nets using a 2D Line from PADS, but it is dangerous in that the line is copper on the physical board, but is not checked on PADS DRC as a short.

You can use a 2D Copper... but it will show a shorted condition.

For me, I would rather see the intentional short and live with it. I used to use the 2D line approach and got burned by it once. I like using a bit of copper over a zero ohm resistor decal if it needs to be shorted in copper.
