This is a very comprehensive spreadsheet based calculator with all kinds of embedded spreadsheets covering layering, trace width, pad stacks, screw drill sizes, wire gauges, and more.

Created by Chris Robertson. He lists a website and a date of 2002 to come out with a book, but I can't find either to exist at this point.

Size is around 1.5 megs when unzipped. 235k in zipped format.

Agilent Technologies provides a FREE design calculator for the RF and Microwave design community.

AppCAD ver. 3.0.2 contains many usefull tools for calculating the most common passive microstrip, stripline and coplanar waveguide circuits as well as active and unique engineering tools.

One really nice feature is a pull down in the transmission line calculator that has all the popular dielectric materials and constants so you don't have to go searching around vendor sites for the information.

Download AppCAD here: (File size: 14.5 MB)

Greetings...

I can't seem to get the link to work for the "Excel Spreadsheet for Panelization" file... Broken link, perhaps?

Here is an Arbitrary Transmission Line Calculator.
http://atlc.sourceforge.net/
You just draw the geometry of the transmission line in a bmp, and it calculate the impedance using finite element method.
It's quite bulk, but i have checked the result with classic line like tripline or microstrip and it is accurate.
The important point is its calculation method : no restriction on the dimension (the usual formula are approximation, which are accurate for a width/height ratio), which is very usefull to calculate imedance on very thin substrat like in flexible circuit...
The program works on linux, but it works great on windows, with cygwin...

A great thank to Dr. David Kirkby for this usefull program !!!
Have fun !!

Just as a note to the curious, as always be careful but if it comes from sourceforge it's legit - free and usually the source code is available for you to play with.
