We are storing our schematic, fab and assembly drawing files in PDF format. The PDF files plot fine, But when viewing them on the screen the text is distorted. Can anything be done about this?
Thanks,
Kathy

Just an idea...

When you output the PDFs, under device setup properties, what are the settings for resolution and scaling and paper size?

Kathy,

We ran into the same problem when we switched over to pdfs. After increasing the resolution settings for the PDFWriter (600 dpi) the problem went away. With the upgrade to PowerPCB 4.0 we ran into another problem though. If you use "View Nets" to color any of your nets for easier ID they will show up in the pdfs in those colors regardless of the CAM settings. A cool feature if I'm highlighting a few nets for review by someone off site but it really sucks for archiving designs!

I am not sure, but somehow at the same time I upgraded my PowerPCB or my Adobe Acrobat.... the default changed as regards to resolution. Since I use PDFs as my main check plot output (or just about only output for check plots now), the output on the screen was horrible, lettering was just garbled. Setting the resolution to 600 solved that.

The color thing is a great feature, but it should also be able to be toggled to disable it when nets are assigned a color.
