Yesterday I installed the upgrade, patches, and service pack to bring my OrCAD Capture up to version 10.0. Unfortunately I’m not too happy with the new rev. There are some nice updates, like unlimited “undoes” but there also seems to be some major bugs. The first one that I found was sometimes I could edit a design, then save and close the design and project; but when I reopen the project the edits are not there. In other words, when I saved the design it did not really save.

I tried to find a list of known bugs at the tech support website (www.ema-eda.com). They had a partial list and a link to Cadence Sourcelink for the complete list, but OrCAD users are not allowed access to Sourcelink because OrCAD is “not a Cadence product.”

So, does anybody know where I can find a list of all the known bugs in OrCAD Capture 10.0?

Thanks in advance,
Glen

Orcad sends out a .pdf file with all the bugs and fixes.
Can't really post it here without permission.

There were 3 service packs for 10.0 - SP1, SP1.1 and SP2.

The problem of not saving was in SP1.

Unlimited undo's are only in Capture.
Layout still has only 1 undo.

SP1.1 fixed the save problem, but caused the schematic to crash using the copy command .

SP2 fixed the schematic crashes but broke the Layout Editor.

I'm currently stuck with 10.0-SP2 and having to hit the "s" key (segment trace) while moving traces in the Edit Segment Mode. This creates extra work and slows productivity.

SP3,4,5...

Thanks for responding Ray. I have seen a PDF file that list the bugs fixed in SP2. It may be the same one you mentioned. What I was looking for was a list of unfixed bugs, or unresolved problems. Knowing what the bugs are sometimes can help you avoid them, or at least limit their impact.

I installed SP2 right after upgrading to Capture 10.0, but I am still having trouble saving my work. To be specific, if I click on File, Save As..., it acts like it saved my work, but if I close and reopen the design the changes I made may or may not be saved.

EMA tech support has suggested a work around. When I want to save my work I close the schematic page, and when the software asks me if I want to save the changes made, I answer “Yes”.

That works; but unlike using “Save As...” I am not given an opportunity to choose the path, file name, extension, etc. Oh well; cannot expect to have everything.
