Hello All!

Is there any option/way that I can check any hanging/dangling traces in my Allegro 14.2 design? From dangling/hanging traces, I mean traces whose one end or both ends are not going to anywhere, just hanging in the design. It should include line (line with out net) and cline (line with net). Can Allegro give DRC on these hanging lines? I tried option of "Gloss" but It did not work.
There is also an option in the Report file of dangling traces but it is very difficult to see the traces as coordinates of the starting and ending points of hanging lines are given in the Report file. And also I think this dangling Report file also give error of lines having invalid angle (angle other than 45/90 degree while I only want to check hanging traces having any angle.)

Can body know the solution of this problem. please advise.

Thanks,
Ali.

Hi Ali,

Don't know if it'll work, but I'm trying to investigate it's usage is the DFA Audit function under Manufacturing. There is a 'hanging trace' audit function.

Manufacturing/ DFA Audit/ Constraint setting
should show one as the 'hanging trace' audit.

I'll see if I can benchmark something and get it to work.

How I deal with dangling lines in the summary report?
1) have the report file showing as a text file (wordpad or notepad) for cut-n-paste
2) copy the x-y from the texteditor
3) in allegro type 'add line'; then type x and paste in the x-y from the texteditor
4) go to that start spot, turn on the appropriate layer and delete the dangling line.
Pretty easy to go thru 10-20 lines.

Good day.

I'm using version 15.1 and you can run a report:tools option, reports and choose from menu 'dangling lines'.

Run the "Dangling Lines" report, turn on the appropriate layer per the report file "error message", then click on the coordinate in the report file. Allegro will zoom center on that coordinate....at least 15.1 will, haven't tried it in 14.2.

It does not work in 14.2

Wouldn't it be easier to use a CAM tool for this if it's difficult in 14.2.

It's not hard to do, pre-V15. Read my first post for instructions. Not hard, tedious.. yes.

Good day.

Just go to the reports and generate a dangling lines report , save this in a notepad and cut each quadrant from the notepad and use the pick command and you will find them in allegro .It is little difficult but i dont fine any other way to do it.
