View Full Version : Capture netlist to Allegro PCB

Well, I'm a longtime PADS user who has been asked to learn Allegro for a specific design. So I choose the default Allegro config file within Capture netlister and it barfs on all sorts of stuff.
My question is this: Is the Allegro.cfg file that comes with OrCAD worth anything? Or is there a better one out there? I know with PADS V5, you have to put in a newer file than what is installed.
Thanks in advance-
Paul
Sorry for the duplicate post from the Allegro forum.........:)

what version of Allegro and what version of Capture are you using. If it's current you should be writing 3 pst___.dat files:
pstxprt.dat
pstxnet.dat
pstchip.dat
But remember, the information has to be in the schematic symbols and associated "part table" files to write appropriate files.
If you post a netlist I can look it over and see what I find.
Good day.

The default config file should work just fine, it's the one I have always used with no problems. . Just read through the errors and correct them.

The error list is very long. Here is a sample of an error:
#10 Error [ALG0048] Conflicting values of "Power Pin Visibility" on "C309" and "C300" for CAP NP_0_0603_33P-C.
I'm just not getting it. These are the same symbol. I switched the netlist to padspwrV5.dll and it runs without errors. Allegro is running a DRC or something.
Any ideas?

If you go into your schematic and look at C300 and C309, edit properties (double-click on the part) you will see on one you have "power pins visible" selected and it will not be selected on the other one.
I have never tried using PADS config file.

OK, I got rid of the power pin deal, now I have tons of errors of this:
#14 Error [ALG0011] Conflicting values of Source Part names found on C383(CAPACITOR NON-POL) and C100(CAP SMD 0603) for part "B504648-001".
I'm guessing it doesn't like the different symbols??
Thanks again for the assist....

I'm not sure but it sounds like you may have used the same part from different libraries that have different properties.
If you want you can send me a page from your schematic and I can look at it for you.
I sent you an email with my email address attached.
