Well, I'm a longtime PADS user who has been asked to learn Allegro for a specific design. So I choose the default Allegro config file within Capture netlister and it barfs on all sorts of stuff.
My question is this: Is the Allegro.cfg file that comes with OrCAD worth anything? Or is there a better one out there? I know with PADS V5, you have to put in a newer file than what is installed.
Thanks in advance-

So over the last day or so, I was able to fix all the schematic "errors" that were preventing me from running a netlist. Now I'm trying to import in the new logic, and I can't "unfix" a component. I've looked all over for a way to delete the "fixed" property.
How do I do it??????
And I live in the U.S.A. in case anyone was wondering :)

Are you trying to 'unfix' it in allegro? If so, try:
Edit Properties/ selection filter COMPONENTS; pick the component and see if it's fixed.
or:
Edit Properties/ selection filter SYMBOLS; pick the component and see if it's fixed.
one should work.
Good day in the USA.

Paul, what version of Allegro are you running?
In the PSD 15 release, there is a check box under Import > Logic
Ignore FIXED property
I don't think that was available in prior releases.

This is version 15.1. I have most of my issues figured out. Now I just have to fight through the other differences. Like how to select a group of components and stuff like that!
Thanks again-

Move (select) a bunch of components...
When in a command; like MOVE or COPY or SPIN, etc.
use the RMB and your pop-up will have TEMP GROUP on it. Select TEMP GROUP; set your FIND FILTER accordingly; then either select what you want (COMPS, CLINES, TEXT, whatever) with the cursor or go to the FIND FILTER and selectively type in the reference designators you want to move.
You can even make a list (text format with .lst being the extension); and select things that way.
TEMP GROUP will be used a lot! Good day.
