View Full Version : MIL standard?
Hi,
I need 'MIL standards' documents for PCB design (placement, routing and power plane guidelines) and fabrication. Can I get those documents from anywhere as free download? If so plz tell the website.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Regards,
Devi.

Hi Devi,
As far as I know ALL the Mil-Specs have been superseded by the IPC specs. You might double check, but I'm almost positive. The military stuff simply needs to follow the most stringent guidelines in the IPC specs.
Check out the IPC-2220 series for PCB design and fabricaiton.

Hi Devi,
I might not have been completely clear... the 'Mil Stds' you're talking about for PCB design, which were Mil-Std-100, Mil-Std-275, Mil-P-whatever for material have all been superceded by IPC Stds.
Simply look up Mil-Std-275, which was the old days design standard and see what the history says.
Good day.

Devi,
If you are anywhere near a Designers Council chapter, the chapter can make any of the IPC materials available for you. I believe Designer Council chapters can check out materials from IPC in Northbrook for a limited time to use to present at designer council meetings. I know we did this a few years ago here in San Diego. The IPC specifications you are asking about are not very expensive. Take a look at WWW.ipc.org and go to the bookstore on the site.
