I don't think they have a BoardStation Demo that you could install - if you want a demo usually a tech will come in and install it, along with a time limited license, it's very difficult to install and get running, pretty much anything that runs in a Unix shell is. They might also have a CD extolling it's features.

Sree,

Been there. Done that. Look thru the BS online HELP. It's there. Everything is there! I wanted to off load the documents at one time, but then I realized that was a massive amount.

Good day.

Yes, the process flowchart is one of the things online.

Just 1 more tip, if you've ever used any other PCB design package - toss all your perceptions of how things are supposed towork, BoardStation is totally unlike any other - closest I can think of would be Zuken (Pantheon doesn't count).

SO TRUE!

I've never! seen anything like torMentor BS! So totally handicapping. It has all the failsafe ways of making the process totally time demanding.

1) Won't import any other netlist than the Boardstation schematic

2) Place and route can be done using RE, which in reality is only an interface to Expedition editor, but that's the ONLY new enhancement since the 1980s!

3) Making parts is ludicrous!

4) Outputting anything is crazy!

5) You'll need two AMPLE programmers for every designer!

As I mentioned, been there. I took the 1 week training in San Jose last March. It was free to me because I was unemployed. :) Total waste of time. I would NEVER want to use the tool.

BUT, one good thing... I still pays CRAZY $$$ if you are an experienced BS designer.

Good day.

I can do it. but i need a guid'nce like how should be the flow.

Is there any initial set ups in system we have to do? I have BS in windows 2k.

when am trying to invoke package with schematic, it fails gives an error " Could not find component object".

Mapping files, mapping files, mapping files! - that's your problem, Package is the huge obstacle to every design, everything must be where BoardStation thinks it should be, (even if it doesn't make sense) - sorry I can't really help that much, when I quit BS about a year and a half ago and moved over to Allegro I busily went about forgetting everything I learned, you would have to pay me a lot more than the crazy$$$ they're paying now - thats how much I hate that POS, I design boards, I don't want to be a expert on Dinosaur software - even hand routing a trace is crazy, you must route past the pad, toggle ends and route back to your trace - unbelievable!! -

hi

can i get demo version of Boardstation

Did you ever get that demo version of BoardStation? I would like to learn BoardStation. I have access to a license through my job, but I would have to learn it on my own time.

How could I find a Mentor to help me learn BS. I am a very proficient PCB designer already. I just want to learn a different tool.
