Our Mechanical Design guys use GD&T standards for dimension details on their prints. I see this method of dimensioning as a excellent way of "cleaning up" some of the pcb fabrication drawings as well. However the fab houses we deal with (punch and crunch) are not even aware of what GD&T is. Anyone else out there using this method for their prints?

I've been using it ever since IPC-2615 came out. Have had no problems with our board houses understanding it. I'd say your fab house is somewhat out of touch.

I am going to have to review that IPC standard. I have been using ASME Y14.5m 1994. It can be very complex in it's interpetations.
One of the sticky things is how we are using our pcb prints. QC uses it for inspecting incoming first part pcbs. Our fab house wants it for fabrication details. Purchasing sends them out to get quotes. Engineering uses them to track revisions.
When one document tries to serve so many different purposes, it makes it hard to follow all of the proper rules of ANY dimensioning standard.
Judging from the solitary response so far it still seems that GD&T may not be a "standard" yet.

IPC-2615 is based on Y14.5, with a little simpler interpretation. As far as quoting goes, use the PCB Fab quote sheet found on this site. Much simpler to send out a word document than a entire fab drawing.

Good Luck
