Received some boards and looks like the via drill registration could be a reliability problem down the road. This is a military application. A .024 pad with a .012 drill. After inspection we noticed as much as .006 off center. The only spec that was listed in Fab notes is IPC 6012 which is a supporting doc for 600F I believe? I believe 600F has a tighter registration requirement?

I'm not sure what I can do?

Does anyone have a copy of 600F they can fax me?

Can I hold them to 600F since 6012 is a support doc?

Do any other IPC docs pertain to this?

What is the industry standard(typical) for drill registration? How abnormal is this?

Thanks for your help all. I'm in a bind as I type and do not want to be responsible for reliability later on!!!! I want to reject these boards. We have had previous open via problems!!!

I would like to get a copy off 600F most of all. I heard it might say +-.003

Hi,
RE: Hole centering in lands. External Annular Ring - Supported Holes.

IPC Class 3 - high reliablity class...(eg life support and flight control) requires the drill hole in external layers of plated thru holes to have an annular ring of 0.050mm (0.0020 inch) or more. (IPC-600F page 60).
