I slowly started to get deeper into PowerPCB ver.4 and I encountered something that is worth of sharing with you:
We have a R1KPOT1/4"/SMT part-type in our library that was a nice boy so far in ver.3.6

Now the scoundrel refuses to "be synchronized" from PowerLogic to PowerPCB; my assumption is because of the double-quote character in it's name. If I remove that is OK, but if I create a new "cousin" with a " character into it's name I get another scoundrel into the family.

The funny thing is that the "send netlist" option from PowerPCB OLE Connection in PowerLogic works OK for both of them, so my impression is that only the "Synchronization" procedure (the one that I always trusted and loved) hates the double-quote character now :) And she was working so nice in rev.3.6 !!

I already used Innoveda's THE ANSWER thingy about this case and hope to come back to you with THE ANSWER.

Until then, in ver.4 don't synchronize when you have "scoundrels" in your family, they won't get through :)

PS:
Sorry if you'll see this message in several places, but I tried to post several times with no success..

Innoveda got back to me with this resolution:

"This is a new bug in 4.0. It has been dropped by mistake & it should be fixed by 5.0. It can not be in the 4.01 patch that is coming out in January because that patch is all done & in QA as we speak.
The tracker number is 16764. Thank You for catching this"

So, if you have part-types names with semi-colon characters these characters will be ignored when synchronize from PowerLogic4.0 to PowerPCB4.0, generating an error "Failed to get Part_Name from library".

I will get rid of these characters in our libraries anyway, they shouldn't have been there in the first place..
