I am sure that this is a setup problem, but we are not on maintenance so I am looking for some help. When I try to set the pcb cursor to infinite (and some other settings as well) I get an error "Changes not saved, cannot update the env file "C:\documents and settings\peter\pcbenv\env" we do not support paths containing spaces.
I do not understand what path that it is referring to and how can I change it. I am running on XP Pro.

Right, Allegro does not support folder names with spaces.
i.e. "C:\documents and settings\peter\pcbenv\env"
You have two spaces in the folder name "documents and settings". Since this is a system generated folder, I would not change the name of it. You need to relocate your pcbenv folder. I have mine under the Cadence install directory.
This applies across the board with Allegro. If you have spaces in the folder name you will not be able to read in a netlist or read the component database.

I know that there are spaces there, but when I move the pcbenv folder and start Allegro it puts another pcbenv folder back under the documents path. Any thoughts? I think I will try it again anyway.

Simply change your HOME environment variable to something other than "Document and Setting..." ; create a pcbenv folder there; place the env file there; start Allegro; set it accordingly; and you should be set.
Good day.

Where do I change the home environment variable? I noticed that path, but I have never had to change it before.
Thanks,

Okay, I managed to get the home directory set up correctly and now when I change the cursor to infinite I no longer get the error about spaces in my path. Now the infinite cursor only looks like a full screen + if I keep it in the upper left corner and as I move it right, left or down the cross starts to sperate until I get this _| in the lower right portion of my screen.

Is this a new computer? Maybe you need to download XP drivers for the video card.

Yes it is a video problem. It is a new notebook with XP-Pro and I also have a monitor connected to it so I can use both screens. The cursor looks fine on the notebook screen and just has that problem when I drag the window over the the monitor. It is not that big of a deal. I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this before. I will see if I can make the problem go away.
