View Full Version : Special laminates for EMI/RFI
Any thoughts on laminates for specific use in EMI/RFI control? Cost and availability is a factor.
This topic is a moving target. The materials industry is rapidly developing new materials to achieve faster speeds and reduced EMI. No one can tell you specifically what to use. That depends on the materials your manufacturer has access to.
Some materials are incompatible with other materials (so mixing and matching becomes difficult). We've tried Getek on the outer layers and FR4 on the inner layers and the boards delaminate.
I highly recommend our manufacturing resource - Rick Norfolk at Hallmark Circuits - 858.513.2200 or rickn@hallmarkcircuits.com.
I also recommend that you study some of the PCB material basics in a series of threads that I posted from IPC, located at this URL:
http://www.pcbstandards.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=39
You'll have to select Show Threads From "The Beginning" and go to page 2. There's lots of PC board material literature that you can read.
Thank you very much for the quick reply, and the additional resources.
