Does anyone know of a good Orcad discussion forum?
The one on their web site used to be OK but has been down for months.

I don't know of one. There are some generic CAD discussion groups out there.
If we can get enough Orcad users in here, I would be happy to start a forum for Orcad. A lot of us do use it, I use Orcad schematic capture.

I will commit to logging in regularly as I see this spot grow, I use orcad Daily for Sch and Pcb layout and (PLEASE don't beat me up to bad) Software Comrades, But I Don't see the problems I see others posting I know orcad has its problems!
I provide in house technical support for my company and would love to know about problems and fixes or work arounds. Thanks

Is there a patch available to get Capture 7.2 to output a netlist with the correct header to PPCB 3 or 4? I am aware that you can use various methods to edit the header and use the resulting file but am wondering if there is a fix available from Cadence.
In addition, We have Capture 7.2 here, and PCB Navigator 2.1 & 3.2 beta, and try to output a netlist from PCB NAV but it crashes if trying to output anything but a PPCB 2.1 netlist. Has anyone used PCB Nav with Capture 7.2 and gotten a good schematic to use in PPCB 3 or 4? What do I need updating?

Hi, welcome to the Orcad forum. I hope we can get more active participation here. Tell your kids and relatives.

Mark,
I am not familiar with "PPCB 3 or 4, or for that mater PCB Navigator either" A few comments though, I know when I used 7.2 OrCad Schematic Capture it had several problems. Migrating to 9.0 resolved many issues the main one; back annotating in Physical mode and logical mode was turned into one streamlined command. I don't know if this could be part of the problem you are seeing. You should consider moving to a more current version "I think " it became more friendly at 9.0.
Also I strictly use Orcad Layout + and Orcad Schematic Capture both Version 9.2, I use them between AutoCAD R14, Pro-E and I am working with possibilities of data transfer to Mentor Graphics.
Sorry no help Today!

Cadence just opened a new forum just for OrCAD users at
www.orcadpcb.com
It is a moderated forum segregated by products. They keep flame-mail and advertisements out of it...though complaints and criticism are welcome. On the one hand, they are trying not to give away free technical support so they want users to answer users' questions. But if someone asks a question for which everyone would profit and no user posts a reply, the moderator forwards the question to someone inside Cadence and then posts their reply.
I don't always agree with her judgements on which questions should be forwarded to technical support, but unless they want to give away free technical support, someone has to make those decisions.
I am lucky enough to have a software maintenance contract, so if I see a question sitting unanswered and I get curious enough, I just call it in so I know the scoop if I ever face that problem myself.
