I need a chart to guesstimate approximate bare board cost.

Most vendors I speak to base their guesstimates on board quantity, square inches, material type, number of layers, minimum feature size, via technology, and impedance technology. However, I've never found one who will send me a chart!

Does anyone have one? Any help would be appreciated, and thanks!

Lets face it most companies dont want you to know there pricing formula because #1 you could hand it to ther competion, and #2 you could missinterpurt the numbers or details and get into a aurguing point. also there is way to many details to make a chart. The biggest problem is most board shops have diffrent pricing for when there busy and slow as well as who you are and how you pay. A major problem is with laminate and material supply if a board shop publishes a pricing chart and that week they cant get there normal low priced materials then how do they explain a increase in price. your best bet is to keep a spead sheet with prices and variances, soon you will be able to get a close estimate of the pricing.

We are also experiencing this situation. The company we deal with needs specific board designs to quote cost. From this, we did receive info on number of layer (4 vs 6) cost differences to be +20-25% and different board thickness costs to be insignificant if no special requests were made (lay-up, thin core or impedence issues).

It's easy! :)

Just go to either:

http://www.pcb4u.com
or
http://www.pcbpro.com

punch in some numbers and get the "quotes" you need.

I did it, then verified the numbers against our vendors and the numbers were very much in line.

Cheap, easy, FREE!

Good day.
