I am trying to generate an IPC-356 data base in CAM350. I go into Utilities > build part (build the parts), Utilities > Extract netlist, etc. Am I on the right track? I recently talked to an individual who seemed to think it was a simple matter of clicking a few radio buttons. Does this sound right to you CAM350 gurus?

If you're only looking for an IPC-356 netlist, then yes, it's a couple of mouse button clicks. If you're looking for a database, then it's more work. I tried creating parts in CAM350 years ago, but soon gave up as the time it would take was not worth the trouble.

Select File > Export > IPC > IPC-D-356. Is from help file.
I go into file > export > netlist > get the message "no nets to export, continue?" I select yes.
Then I select IPC-D-356 with assign unused nets radio button selected. I get connections to pads (vias), but it definitely is more nets then is on the board.
Can you give me more hints?

Before you export the netlist, go to Utilities, Netlist Extract. Then run the Netlist Export from the File Menu.

The results look reasonable. Thank you.

Hi Ron, and the others.
I simply run the VB script in PADS to generate the IPC356 netlist. I only use CAM350 for gerber verification; and HAVE NOT had a problem at fab with my PADS generated gerber274X files or drill files.
I ALWAYS supply a 356 netlist though. :)
