Has anyone heard of a WEB BASED library server such that all the parts would have revision control and be accessable through a corporate firewall.
How hard would it be to create some software to do this?
What kind of a cost would your company be willing to pay for something like this?
What about making something like this for ALL CAD systems?

Hi Carl,
I'm in process of doing just that thru pcbstandards.com, and hope to complete the first installment of the current library shortly. There will be an announcement on the site when it happens. Here's what should happen.
1) the metric/nominal lirbary is almost completed and will go online.
2) the minimal/maximum libraries - in metric - will follow.
3) finally the INCH based versions will go online (for sale).
4) all the rest of the pcbstandards.com "drawing" stuff will be available in allegro format (i.e. board outlines, leader lines, bubbles, notes, etc, etc, etc.) I'd also like to do something with start-boards and the like, but we'll see.
Revision controls will be handled like the current pcbstandards.com standard. I don't know exactly how that is handled, so I won't comment further.
Any recommendations from the allegro users is surely appreciated.

Mitch,
Any progress on this?
Is the LandCalc useable in Allegro?

I'm still waiting for the latest IPC-7351 PADS library so I can continue onto getting the Allegro lib in place. I had converted a bunch of the 'old' parts prior to this new fangled IPC thingy, now the padstacks will change, the footprint names change, and so on. I'd like to have a footprint generator much like pcbstandards does. All I have is some Tck/Tk code for an allegro footprint generator, but I personally don't know Tck to mod it to the IPC ways. Philip has looked into an automatic way of converting footprints, but allegro doesn't do ASCII so that's a limitation for him.
I'll post more when something happens.
