Does anyone know how to rename all part type and decal names in a library? We have purchased Circuit Works to use with Solidworks for modeling and hoped to be able to bring back to Pads. There are illegel Circuit Works charactors in the libs and when brought into Circuit Works it changes these names and than I can't bring the file back to PADS becuse it reads the parts from the lib and the names have been changed. Due to the size and number of libs we have here (after many mergers) trying to just copy and rename would be a long process. Has anyone had similar issues?

You might export the library, and then use search and replace to find the invalid characters.

There may be some manual work, but I don't think you will spend hours on even a big library.

Here is what you can do...
1. Select component in question
2. Edit decal
3. save decal as.. (whatever you require)
4. exit decal editor
5. go to eco mode
6. Select change component on toolbar
7. Select component in question
8. Right click and select, library browse
9. Check the box: Update Part Type From Library
10. You should now see the original part and the new part

Once you have the new part established you should now be able to simply do a query modify of all parts that have the same footprint and change them.
