How do you get mounting holes over to the IDF file through the PRO/E link?

Thank you,
John Wheeler

John,

You can't, unless you copy your database over to a different name and delete the mounting holes and then create your IDF files. There is no way to turn the mounting holes "Off" while creating the PRO-E export. They only come out as a warning anyway. I never had any problems with giving the PRO-E guys data with the mounting holes in it.

Tom-

I think maybe you misinterpretted the question; it sounds like John wanted to know how to _include_ the holes in the export.

This, as you probably already know, is accomplished by assigning the attribute HOLE to the part type. Things also need to be configured properly in the config.pro file on the Pro/E end.

If you were, for some reason, trying to suppress the exporting of holes to Pro/E, you can select the part, query the attributes, set the "Attributes For:" filter to Part Type, and then select and delete the attribute HOLE from the part. However, by doing this, the Pro/E link will create a bounding box around the hole as if it were a physical part that was lacking an IDF Shape definition, so perhaps your notion of copying the database and deleting the holes you don't want to export is a better solution anyway.

Just thought I'd chime in. Enjoy the holidays!

Tom,

You're correct. I thought John did not want the holes to come out in the export data. I read his question wrong. Anyway, Thank you Tom for setting me straight and helping John out.
