I am getting confused with package names.

For our new product we have to create a lot of new packages, so I thought let’s just have a look at the WindRiver Library. Finally I found out that the same package has different names with different manufacturers. So it is difficult to prevent that you not have the same package in the library with different names.
Does anyone has a cross reference list of package names?

Example

SOT-346 = SC-59
SOT-353 = SC-70-5

I am looking for the two below

SO-6 (Pitch 0.65) from NEC
R-PDSO-G6 from Texas Instruments

I agree with you that a cross reference could be very usefull to match different names between IEC, JEDEC, EIAJ, RLP, Philips, Texas and so on.
I believe that what you need is:

R-PDSO-G6 = SOT363N ( PCBStandards Land Pattern Name )
SO-6 (Pitch 0.65) = If SC88, idem as above

We should put this one our list of things to look at. One problem is trying to handle all the different conventions from all the different manufacturers. Specially when there is an industry standard part and the manufacturer uses a different name.

I do recommend that you use the library documentation for this. I find the handbook to be very useful in that I can look at the manufacturer's datasheet and find if there is a standard part in our library that matches the critical dimensions.
