View Full Version : Fantasic Cadence Deal - Year End Closeout!
I can't seem to believe that this is true.....
Cadence has a special right now until the end of the year. For $5,000.00 you can get PCB librarian, Concept HDL, Capture CIS, Allegro PCB Layout, Specctra Placement and Specctra Interactive Route Editors, and a Specctra Autorouter.
Will someone please check into this "Special Deal" and let me know if it's true. Also, please find out how much the yearly maintenance is on this hot deal. Thanks in advance.
OK, I found out from several sources that the above offer is legitimate and the yearly maintenance is $1,600.
This offer is only valid if you are an existing PADS or PCAD customer and all you have to do is show proof (no exchange necessary). I do not know if this is really true because Cadence is offering this deal to a friend of mine who does not own any CAD software.

This is exactly how I got my seat of PCB Studio a couple of years ago. I just showed proof of ownership for Accel EDA v. 12 (my maintenance wasn't even current). I believe I paid $6500 which included one year maintenance. My annual maintenance is $1600.
Check it out here (http://www.cadencepcb.com/pdf/promotions/padsspecctra.pdf).

Hey PadMAN
How is PCB Studio working for you? How does it compare to Accel? Do you have the "performance" package option? I've used it with and without the performance option, and can't work without it.
Let me know. any info is appreciated (to all us users).

I couldn't justify the money for the performance option for what little work I do at home. It's been a while since I did an evaluation on the performance option so I don't remember all the extra functionality it buys you. I know I can't run 'testprep' but other than that Studio is not limited in the # of layers/nets/pins/components you can do.
I have turned down a couple of small jobs on Accel. I know Accel got a little better with PCAD2000 and later versions but I much prefer Allegro. I wouldn't be surprised if Protel kills off Accel anyway. I probably would use Accel again if I had to.
