If the dielectric thickness above the conductor is 0.025 mm or more, then the effective dielectric constant can be determined using the standard embedded microstrip equations. For very thin dielectric coatings (less than 0.025 mm), the effective dielectric constant will be between that for air and the bulk dielectric constant.
