B. Embedded Microstrip - A conductor referenced to a single plane, with the organic printed board dielectric on both sides of the conductor. The outer dielectric material can be core material, soldermask, conformal coating or some other insulating material. In a board with signals on layers 1 and 2 and a plane on layer 3, an embedded microstrip transmission line exists between the signal conductor on layer 2 and the plane on layer 3.
